Twists for a Healthy Spine and Digestive System
A workshop with Eliane Codiroli
When we work with twists in Yoga, we massage the internal organs in the abdomen and lower back. This massaging action helps to improve the functioning of the intestines, stomach, liver, kidneys, urinary system and the reproductive system. This will help improve our overall health and well-being.
Twists wring out the upper Spine, where we tend to hold a lot of tension, and encourage a lengthening of the lower back, an opening into the upper chest and a lengthening of the outer hips and legs.
Essentially, twists counterbalance all the bad posture habits we perform during the day and are therefore an ideal practice to bring into everyday life.
What to expect:
In this workshop we will explore correct alignment and use of the breath in a variety of different twisting Asanas. The aim is for students to find ways of working with twists that work for their bodies and gain confidence in performing them correctly at home and in their regular classes.
Suitable for:
This workshop is open to all levels except for complete beginners.
