Jo - Yoga Teacher

"To live will be an awfully big adventure" J M Barrie

In 2000, at 21, I went through year-long treatment for cancer. As soon as I was well enough, my priority was to rush to catch up the year I'd 'lost'.

I restarted the career as a writer I'd had to pause. As a reporter for a local newspaper I had the privilege of being paid to connect with people, share their stories and constantly try new experiences. It was while exploring subjects for the lifestyle page I had my first experience of yoga. I didn't even get changed out of the clothes I was wearing to take part!

But in that first hour on the mat, I realised that yoga was about much more than keeping fit. The class in that converted industrial office building gave me the opportunity to slow down, listen to my body, be with my thoughts and start to come back to myself.

From trying out various styles and teachers in my 20s, to developing a regular, consistent personal practice in my 30s and feeling the call to share the benefits with others in my 40s, it's been an amazing adventure so far.

Yoga allows me to use my body to clear my head and stay focussed on the now, living life to the full every day. And that's what I hope to share with everyone I teach.

I love to practice outdoors and bring my passion for the natural world, creativity and curiosity into the studio. My approach is informed, not just by my 500hr BWY training, but my experiences and the realities of life off the mat.

As a busy parent of two, I understand firsthand how challenging it can be to carve out time for yourself and equally how transformative a regular yoga practice can be in meeting those everyday demands with more presence, patience, and strength.

I aim to offer a welcoming environment, encouraging you to move at your own pace, creating space for connection - with yourself and with others.

Come join me.
